A Civil War Shawl which Suzanne designed and knit for a friend who is a reenactor from Northern Indiana. It was created to go with a ball gown, but is warm enough for day use as well. The Shawl was entered in the Skein and Garment Contest at Maryland Sheep and Wool and placed first. It was entered in the Michigan Fiber Festival, Fiber Arts Competition and won Best of Show and also was featured in Cast On Magazine.

Knitting Experience Level is Intermediate. The finished size is 72" diameter. Fingering weight yarn, 475 yards, was used. Knit with US size 6 - set of 5 dp needles and multiple lengths of circular needles plus one set of straight needles size 6.

The precise instructions Suzanne gives on adjusting the yarn size allows you to use any commercial or handspun yarn for this pattern. The amount of yarn is approximately 24 ounces in sport wt. yarn. The main body part of the shawl is k2, p2 ribbing which is very stretchy so it will fit a very wide range of sizes. The lace sleeve and all edging designs are written in a row by row explanation in Large Type to make it very easy to follow as you knit.

Finished Measurements One size fits most. The skirt can be worn by waist sizes 26 to 38 comfortably. Smaller sizes can be accommodated by using a smaller yarn on smaller needles on the same number of stitches. The skirt length is 29 inches.

It can also be worn at the neck creating a very comfortable and flattering poncho and if you have the figure for it, it can also be worn as a halter dress by bringing the waist up to the bust line and tying the drawstring around behind the neck.

Reversible Braided Cable Scarves, are a braided cable using a ribbed base to make a very stunning reversible scarf. . Variation One is done in sport weight two ply handspun. Variation Two is done in fingering weight.

Both Tee Tops are knit from the top down in raglan style and have multiple options for adjusting the shape to fit each individual perfectly. Detailed directions explain how to choose a commercially available yarn or spinning a yarn from any chosen fiber. Then how to use a special dyeing technique to create the color pattern in the garment, if desired. It will also discuss how different fiber can be affected by dyes and how this can be incorporated in the final design.
