Entrelac is a knitting technique that creates a very interesting, complicated look, however, it is only connecting squares while you knit and is really not that difficult. These knitting e-patterns are designed by Suzanne Pufpaff of the Yurt Boutique, part of Pufpaff's Fiber Processing.

Slotted Scarf
You can see more information and order a kit on this page.
The Slotted Neck Scarf is designed with entrelac knitting incorporating lace inserts.
Designer Suzanne Pufpaff says: " In this variation of the entrelac knitting, a lace design has been inserted into alternating rows of squares.”

The scarf was knit from two ounces of sport weight Shetland handspun yarn, commercial sport weight yarn may be used as well. The entire scarf can be done on either straight needled or circular needles. The sample was worked on US size 5 needles.

The Entrelac Moebius, a moebius is a mathematical shape that has only one edge. In knitting it can be created by putting a quarter turn in the work before joining stitches to be knit in the round. Many individuals have created moebius garments by knitting into both sides of a cast on row. In this variation, the cast on row is actually a set of connecting squares that substitute for the normal set of triangles that are usually used to begin an Entrelac item. The directions are written for a Moebius that can be worn as a scarf or scarf and head covering.

The yarn used in this photo is 6 ounces of hand spun 2 ply lace weight yarn. Larger and smaller yarns can be used. Bulkier yarn will need more ounces. Gauge is not important for this project. It is more important to match needle size to yarn size to make a light flexible fabric.

A Sizing formula is included so the same pattern can be modified to create a long moebius neck scarf, a moebius to be worn around the body as shrug or stole or a moebius head band or adjust the size to fit different size individuals.
