by Evelyn A. Clark this is an easy stockinette stitch lace which creates flowers
in oval baskets. You knit from the center back neck down, ending in a simple,
scalloped edging. Instructions are given for 4 yarn weights and 3 sizes. Instructions
are written row by row, as well as, shown on a chart. The scarf or shoulder shawl is 27 inches deep and 54 inches wide, small shawl is 34" by 68" and large is 45" by 90". The yarn weights are: Lace on a size 5, Fingering on size 6, Sport wt. on size 8 and DK or lt worsted on size 10. Needles are suggested to be 24 to 32 inch circular, sizes given here are US. The lilac shawl shown is the small size in sport weight and took 550 yards. The large size knit with sport wt. uses 1,000 yards. Four skeins of Marr Haven worsted weight yarn or one cone of sport weight will make the largest size shawl.
