The finished size of this rug is 27 inches long by 17 1/2 inches wide. I used two 8 ounce Marr Haven Merino Rambouillet batts folded with ends to the middle, overlapping slightly and lightly needle felted to hold in place. Then covered entirely (over the front around to and covering the back) with a very thin layer of a dyed batt, added circle designs were needle felted in place before all was wet felted.

I wanted a rug that still had alot of loft in the center so during the rolling step, only rolled from each side - not from the top or bottom. The result was as I hoped for; it is about 1/2 thick at the edges, inward about 2 inches. The rest of the rug is about 1 1/4 inch thick . It has only been in the shop for a couple of weeks so time will tell how the loft holds up to traffic.
