See the moebius knit with this yarn | Lambs wool is super fine and very, very soft. The length of the fibers (called staple) makes it more difficult to spin into yarn. Due to the added work involved to spin it, we do not anticipate having this spun again. (As much as I love the super softness.) Normally lambs are not shorn until they are a year old with longer staple, the wool is then called a hoggett fleece. This year we had a limited amount of yarn spun with a high percentage of lambs wool for an extra soft worsted weight yarn. This yarn is a 4 ounce skein and is 100% Chemical Free and can be classed as Organic Wool & Yarn, the same as our regular yarn. |
![]() | The swatch on the left has been hand washed, the swatch on the right has not been washed. The washed swatch did lighten in color and the stitches relaxed and lofted to fill in spaces shown in the unwashed swatch. There is an insignificant change in the measurements of the two swatches. The washing was actually a soaking in a wool wash with gentle squeezes to remove the soap and another soak in clear water. Gently squeezed to remove some water, then rolled in a towel to remove most of the water. This yarn will felt, however as our other yarns, it does take longer than many wool yarns. |
